FF: If you're fragging and you know it..

Mommy's IdeaIf you're fragging and you know it, then your face will surely show it, if you're fragging and you know it clap your hands :-)

Do you have little tidbits that don't make a full post? Are they clogging up your draft box? Come on over and unload your fragments with Mrs. 4444, she loves sweeping up that sort of stuff ;-)

Tidbits...

We got more snow this week! Yay for us, yay for us. Doing the happy dance!!  There is something very calming about the sound of a snow blower. I can still close my eyes and see my dad in his gray parka with the fur lined hood, just a coat with a para scope for a head, blowing off the driveway.

I started working out again. I have that sore sensation again. It's not horrible and I am praying that I don't over do it so that I quit again. It is helping build strength in my left forearm too!

One of my favorite workouts right now is the PS3 Sport's Champion 2 game of boxing and tennis. While hubby just sits on the couch with his controller, I choose to get fully into the game and sweat it out. I even beat people left handed. Ha!!!

I finally got the moose sighting video uploaded to youtube. It was a true struggle, let me tell you. I didn't want to overload you guys with embedded videos.

I was sitting in the school room, preparing this post for next FF when a crazy thing happened. Hubby stepped outside to grab more logs for the wood stove and I heard thump, thump, thump, thump. The tell tale sounds of something falling down steps! I ran to the door to see him clinging to the railing near the bottom step.

What we hadn't realized was that the temperature of our rainy day had dropped to make all wet surfaces ice covered. Thankfully he was not hurt, but since my fall in September, every time I hear someone fall my heart stops!

I have more app love to share! I finally got some of the educational apps posted. I posted about Word Seek, Montessori Letter Sounds, and Stack the States. If you have any apps reviewed or app love to share, please do so :-)

Things heard around the house (I finally wrote them down as they were said!!!):

Mom, wuz at
An army man Noah.
Mom, wuz at?
A noise outside Noah.

Mom, wuz at?
Noah, I don't know.

Mom, werz dad?
He's at work babe.
Why?
Cause we like to eat.
Me av nack now?

(scene: mother, frustrated with messy bedrooms, lecturing down the line of children)
And Noah!!!
What mom? (imagine big eyes)
(slight pause)
Sorry kiddo, I have nothing to yell at you about.

Mom, when do you think we will move from Alaska?

Now can I go play in the snow??

"Hey babe, did you know that FDR rounded up the Japanese-Americans during WWII by Executive Order?"
"No kidding!? It sure sucks to get on the wrong side of the Govt, eh?"
"Yea, we had concentration camps here in America."
(the man loves history!!)

(imagine the cacophony of 5 children talking at once)
Mom, JJ hit me.
He's lying!
Mom, I need help with this math problem.
Mom, can I have a snack now.
I was talking to mom first!
Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy
You did too hit me!

One of the many ways you can tell we are a military family...

For your humorous pleasure, I will share another oldie but goodie. I happen to really enjoy the clean humor of Sinbad. What struck me were some of the humorous observations he made about college and high school kids...back in the 90's!!! That was me!!

  1. Can I have some of your snow? We're having heatwaves and bushfires at the moment.

You can keep the icy steps though *shudder* I'm glad your hubby wasn't hurt!

  2. We were at the Beach last weekend. Being Canadian I should prefer snow but I just don't. My blood has thinned living in the sunny south.

    1. We really miss the beach! When we lived in NC, we traveled to Myrtle Beach almost every month. We just love the beach and the sound of the waves.

But we also love snow. We are just wanting to get our fill of snow before heading back south again to those military bases. Actually, after this we hit SC for a 6mo school.

  3. We got snow yesterday, so no school today! AND, the sun has finally come out!
Love the video! My hubby grew up in a military family, and he was in the National Guard until right after our youngest was born. Thank your husband & your whole family for serving! (Those who wait also serve!)

  4. I like your little rhyme/tune.
A snow blower = calming? Do you like snow plows too?

    1. I was actually trying to get that song stuck in people heads like it got stuck in mine :-( I had to idea typing it would do that?

Eh, not the plows, they don't hum, they crunch along and beep when backing up...very unnatural.

    2. beep when backing up - it might be unnatural but in our small kitchen it would be helpful.

  5. No snow for us, but that's A ok with me! I did live in Fairbanks for 5 1/2 months in 1971 and that was plenty for this old Florida girl!!!

Love that video of your little one! How cute!

    1. Fairbanks is brutal!! They were above 20 for much of late December. The penguins were complaining ;-) Hubby doesn't like Fairbanks at all, so very bitterly cold. I totally understand sticking in Florida :-)

  6. My daughter, who is six, fell down the stairs a few weeks ago. I was in the kitchen making lunch and my husband and I both looked at each as we heard it and went running. It was only about 5 stairs because our stairs and switchback, but Yikes! She was the first kid to fall down the stairs. Her brother (almost 11) has never done it. Nothing gets the body moving like hearing thump thump thump.

We've been thinking of visiting Alaska now that we live in Seattle. But I have no idea when is a good time to go. My kids have vacation in February and April but both seem too off the tourist times, and honestly, too cold!

    1. Oh that thumping sound just makes your heart stop!!! All my kids have done it, we even did more stitches recently because of a fall down our cedar steps. Was she ok? No broken bones?

I sent an email response concerning a visit to Alaska, I hope you got it. Any help I can be in reference to a visit, you please let me know. We would be happy to help in any way we can :-)

  7. We got a "trace" of new snow this morning but I WANT MORE!

We ARE going down into the deep freeze this weekend, for that I am thankful. I do love me some winter.

  9. I am still waiting for the sound of a lot of snow...the quiet sound:)
Oh and thanks I will be singing the happy song all day long in my head...
Lil Noah is just too precious, I can see why there will not be much yelling at him:)
My brother and sister-in-law stayed with me for a few months while they were waiting on settlement to their house. Their 2-year-old fell down my steps and fractured her skull. The sound froze us, we were so scared. Thank God, she is a healthy 17-year-old today but what a lesson for us. I'm glad your husband is okay, ice is so scary.
OMGoodness Sinbad is hysterical. I have fast food worker rage. I try so hard to control myself but jeeze...
    Have a fabulous weekend!!

    1. Oh my goodness, how dreadful!! Those 'falling down the stairs' sounds just make my heart stop!!

I think he is so very funny!! If you ever have the chance, watch his special "Son of a Preacher Man" but don't attempt to drink anything and use the potty first ;-)

Have a good one yourself!! Thanks for stopping by!
