First Week of Advent

it is the first week of advent, and the week is HOPE!!  what on earth are we hoping in??  i believe that is a great question.  if you watch the news for just a brief moment, there does not appear to be much to hope for or in these days.  even in this festive/holiday season the images surrounding us tell us to hope in our gifts, hope in our things, hope we get what we want come December 25th.

my observation of the things that we have brought into this house is that they weaken, fade, ruin and break.  hope in things will fail us at some point... but i would offer that there is hope beyond human means and design that never fades, ruins, or breaks.  it is hope in God and in His son Jesus Christ.  the birth we celebrate in December gives us hope in a God with a plan that spans the millennium. 

"Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.  For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.  Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you."  Psalm 33:20-22
